We have made a decision to proceed with developing the Ontario voluntary carbon offsets program. Voluntary carbon offset credits are an additional mechanism to encourage greenhouse gas reductions (GHG) in Ontario beyond the coverage of the cap and trade program.
A decision has been made to proceed with the design of a legislative framework for commercial-scale geologic carbon storage in Ontario that would enable the development of technology-ready commercial-scale projects and the continued testing and demonstration of newer carbon storage technologies.

The minister has issued an overall benefit permit to a private landowner for the development of a single residential home that may impact Butternut, a species at risk tree. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.
The Ministry of Energy has extended certain deadlines by a second six-month period for conservation and demand management projects contracted under the legacy Conservation First Framework to further offset delays caused by COVID-19.
