The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit to Trinity Woods Inc. for residential development which will impact Eastern Foxsnake (Carolinian population) and Willowleaf Aster, both species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

We will repeal the Toxics Reduction Act, 2009 and its associated regulations on December 31, 2021. This will remove unnecessary duplication with the federal program and reduce burden for industry.
The ministry issued Environmental Compliance Approval No. 8719-BNWR7F on May 20, 2020 for Stericycle, ULC, to establish four temporary transfer sites for temporary storage and transfer of biomedical waste in Cities of Mississauga, Hamilton, London and Ottawa.
We are proposing amendments to the Environmental Assessment Act through the proposed Protecting Ontario’s Workers and Economic Resilience Act, 2026. These changes would improve the comprehensive environmental assessment process by removing certain steps while maintaining strong environmental protections and other opportunities for consultation.
We are modernizing the environmental assessment program by working with proponents of Class Environmental Assessments (Class EA) to propose changes that would ensure strong environmental oversight, while aligning assessment requirements with environmental impact, reducing duplication and increasing efficiency of the Class EA process.

The Protect Ontario by Securing Affordable Energy for Generations Act, 2025, (Act) was passed to advance the measures outlined in Ontario’s first Integrated Energy Plan, Energy for Generations. This Act enables the buildout of energy infrastructure to meet rising demand, support economic growth and create a self-reliant and resilient province.
We have issued an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), which replaces all the current ECA for air for this facility.
A new Environmental Compliance Approval was issued for the establishment of industrial sewage treatment and year round subsurface sewage disposal works, servicing Walinga Inc., for domestic sewage for the site located at 5656 Highway 6, Township of Guelph/Eramosa.
Reach Harbour's request to continue to use two single-wall steel underground storage tanks, located approximately one metre from Lower Buckhorn Lake, for two more years during the “on-season” (approximately May to October), and then remove them from the ground, has been approved.
Suncor's request to replace several tank and dispenser sump entry boots (fittings that connect piping to a containment system) with retrofit boots made by Icon Products, has been approved.
A decision has been made to amend the Mining Act to implement a One Project, One Process (1P1P) approach and to amend to the Mining Act, Energy Board Act, 1998, and Electricity Act,1998 to introduce new authorities to protect the strategic national mineral supply chain, and limit foreign participation in Ontario’s energy sector.

We introduced Bill 139 - the Building Better Communities and Conserving Watersheds Act, 2017, on May 30, 2017. The changes identified in the bill respond to the province-wide consultation the government undertook as part of the Ontario Municipal Board Review.

Minister's Directions were issued under section 148 (3) (4) (5) of the Mining Act in 2019 and 2020, to employees and agents of the Ministry of Mines to prevent access to mine hazards by installing a fence and backfilling openings. The rehabilitation measures were completed on November 2, 2020.
