A new regulation was made to address transition rules related to the restoration of municipal planning authority resulting from changes made to the Planning Act by the Green Energy Repeal Act, 2018.

On December 20, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Minister's Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 561/24 in the City of Toronto. The City of Toronto requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order. 

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-23-000034 to Wallbridge Mining Company Incorporated for early exploration activities.

The decision is to issue the mineral exploration permit.

On January 24, 2025, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Minister's Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 12/25. The City of Waterloo requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order. 

Ontario Regulation 385/21  (General) implements amendments that were made to the Ontario Heritage Act through the More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019. The amendments and regulation come into force on July 1, 2021.

Through Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, amendments have been made to the Planning Act and the Development Charges Act, 1997 to reduce municipal development-related charges. These changes will help the government achieve its goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next ten years.

This permit was issued for a new Permit To Take Water for Wallbridge Mining Company Limited. Water will be taken from one (1) pond for groundwater remediation purposes at the Broken Hammer Open Pit.

Ontario is implementing changes to the General Regulation under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 to reduce administrative burden and provide more business opportunities for farmers while protecting the environment and human health.

Permit To Take Water No. 3413-87ELLN was renewed for White Bear Mining Corporation for dewatering purposes. Water will be taken from the excavation at the Oxford Quarry, located in North Grenville, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Ontario. Permit No. 6782-BV8Q7W was issued on December 7, 2020 for a period of 10 years.

We made changes to the Environmental Assessment Act through Bill 108, More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019. These changes help the ministry to modernize by focusing on projects that pose actual, real risks to our environment and communities.

Permit to Take Water No. P-300-1210729039 has been issued to Evolution Mining Gold Operations Ltd., amending Permit to Take Water No. 1244-BURTKK for mining dewatering purposes. Water will be taken from underground mine workings located at the Red Lake Mining Operations, located in the Town of Red Lake, District of Kenora, Ontario.

On July 1, 2019, amendments to O. Reg. 509/18 made under the Electricity Act, 1998 came into force. These amendments further harmonize requirements for six products with Canadian and U.S. standards, and make editorial changes to keep the regulation up-to-date.

The government has made changes to the Ontario Heritage Act to address matters related to non-designated or “listed” properties included on municipal registers.

An approval was issued to amend Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 4467-8UZHR9 for the renewal of the Limited Operational Flexibility conditions for FNX Mining Company Inc., a copper/nickel mining operation located in Sudbury, Ontario.

On August 16, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Minister's Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 327/24 in the City of Vaughan. The City of Vaughan requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
