A declaration order has been issued to exempt a proposed transformer station at the Lake Erie Works steel plant in Nanticoke from the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act.

We issued a Minister’s Directive to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) requiring them to implement a 12-year electricity conservation and demand-side management (eDSM) Framework starting January 1, 2025, which includes a budget of up to $10.9 billion for the IESO to deliver a portfolio of electricity energy efficiency (EE) programs.
An amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to Pomas Farms Inc. for sewage works expansion (increase rated capacity from 40,000 L/day to 96,000 L/day) to service a new bunkhouse and two existing bunkhouses, located at 1057 Highway 77, in the Municipality of Leamington.
We have decided to give fuel suppliers the option to defer compliance with the 2025 domestic content requirement until the 2026 compliance period. This regulatory amendment is effective immediately.
On October 28, 2024, an amendment to O.Reg. 509/18, made under the Electricity Act, 1998 was filed to harmonize the efficiency standards for 42 products through rolling incorporation by reference to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) standards, and to revoke obsolete efficiency requirements for three products regulated under O.Reg. 509/18.

The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 212 which introduces the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. This new Act provides a consistent approach to the oversight of the installation of bike lanes, where a lane of traffic is removed.

We have amended several regulations related to excess soil under the Environmental Protection Act, and related documents, in response to delays to infrastructure and development projects as a result of COVID-19, and to support flexible reuse of excess soil.
As homes and businesses consume more electricity, we want to solicit broad feedback from stakeholders and the public on the future of Ontario’s electricity energy efficiency programs (also known as Conservation and Demand Management or CDM.)
Amendments have been made to O. Reg. 95/05 Classes of Consumers and Determination of Rates to enable Regulated Price Plan (RPP) customers who pay Time-of-Use (TOU) rates to choose instead to pay tiered rates as of November 1, 2020.

Reg. 115/20 so that the requirements under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 (EBR) to post proposals for acts, policies, regulations and instruments on the Environmental Registry (ERO) and to consider the Statements of Environmental Values (SEV) are restored.
