I am generally supportive of any addition to our provincial parks (ERO 019 8618). I live in Oro-Medonte and will also specifically comment on the proposed expansion of Bass Lake Provincial Park. I have paddled the western shore of Bass Lake many times and walked up the Oro-Medonte road allowance and have observed the very low/wet nature of these and adjoining lands and the streams that flow into Bass Lake from them. They are rich with plant and wildlife. I have observed loons nesting, endangered turtles and otters along these slow flowing streams.

I support the addition of the proposed acreage to Bass Lake PP.

I would also encourage the MECP to approach the other land owners on neighbouring properties to see if these lands can be donated/acquired to also protect them. This could be done in conjunction with the local conservation authority or groups like the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Ducks Unlimited or the Couchiching Conservancy.
