I support the initiative to…

I support the initiative to amend the Rondeau Park Management Plan to allow cottages to remain in the park at least until 2038 with the following comments and clarifications:

1) Cottages have been a part of Rondeau Provincial Park since 1894. In fact, it was one of the two reasons the park was created. It is not clear to me that day users in tents and Winnebagos are better for the park ecologically.

2) That said, renewal lease terms must be at market rates and not create a situation whereby increased land rent is used to effectively evict cottagers.

3) The Ministry should not be allowed to stall its decision as a way to "wait out" the cottagers as decisions related to refinancing and capital improvements are required.

Please make this a priority as it has taken far to long to achieve clarity on this issue.
