The cap and trade system is a great system that was working well under the previous government. Greenhouse gases were being lowered and it wasn't costing the public anything. This system was good due to the fact that it was making the polluter pay. The Nobel prize in economics was just given out to a person who proved that carbon taxes and the cap and trade system are the best way to lower greenhouse gases. Also, a UN report just came out stating we have 12 years left until the earth has undergone catastrophic change due to climate change. The cap and trade system would help Ontario play their part in reducing emissions. I also think that the general public would be willing to pay a little extra in order to save the world. Keep the cap and trade system in place it does its job and provides the government with much-needed money which can be used to reduce greenhouse gases even more.
