I believe that his bill is erroneous and not well thought out. We know that it is important to protect the environment especially in light of the recent UN report and this bill would ensure the opposite. It is stated in the bill that it would be that a new system to protect the environment would have to be put in place. However, I feel that this system works effectively and has no need to be replaced. It’s goal was to reduce carbon emissions in 2030 by 37% o what thy were in 1990. Studies show that other alternative systems would slow down the progress of slowing global warming. The program also benefitted the environment by having the profits from the system go towards more climate change initiatives. Furthermore, if you are not concerned about the climate so much as the cost for Ontario and consumers, we are set to lose money and face many possible legal battles from Quebec and California, since Premier Ford has not respected the 1 year forewarning period before pulling out of the environment. Already, the two other members of the agreement have blocked off As well, Premier Ford has made no attempt to explain if he will compensate the $3 billion spent on buying permits from the government. In conclusion, I do not support the cancelation of the Cap and Trade program as I do not find any possible benefits that would put way the aforementioned consequences.
