Living near the plant one…

Living near the plant one can expect:
- routine black clouds of unknown materials being released into the air. With unsatisfactory explanations to the press and local media.
- routine large bangs, and 'ground shaking' activities (could be felt as far as Goulais River) The latest in the spring of 2024 literally felt like an earth quake.
- late night metal works, scrapings, booms and other concerning noises. It seems noise bylaws do not apply to Algoma Steel.
- chemical spills and other 'accidents' into the waterways and air. Again, with casual responses from the plant media releases.
(the tragic losses of life over the years, including in 2023.)

Deeply concerning routine events, that we know are unsafe - and have been for generations. The plant has been allowed to operate for generations with no real health and community safety protocols enforced. No penalties.... It needs to be held accountable and responsible.

But everyone loves their annual bonus. So everyone keeps quiet.
