The provincial government spends hundreds of thousands of dollars annually advertising in American and out of province publications. The government wishes to attract visitors and they do this by showing scenes of great natural beauty - our province is very scenic - especially north of Barrie in the Canadian Shield area
What must the tourists think when they are presented with a signboard advertising Crabby Shack meals or Paul Sadlon's manure wagons advertising his car dealership - these signs and hundreds like them are what are presented to our visitors - not what they were promised. And these signboards are placed in the most scenic locations.
If the government wants tourists to flock to our province - then they cannot allow our highways to become a commercial wasteland - have you driven north on Highway 11 lately? What do tourists see when they drive to Algonquin Park?
