Bill 5 should not be considered for Ontario or any province. Giving power to the Premier's office to override any Environmental Acts or Endangered Species Acts is a gross misuse of authority and is granting self-serving power to the Premier. Municipalities have the RIGHT to preserve their local environment and to protect all species that are endangered or at-risk by ensuring appropriate Environmental Assessments are completed prior to any project being approved. This bill if approved gives the province the power to negate these protections to allow projects to be pushed through recklessly. Resources can be managed and used while also protecting our natural environments. As for the 401 tunnel, that is the most ridiculous idea and waste of taxpayers money. This Bill is a slap in the face to municipalities, the environment and to the people.
