I strongly oppose Schedule 8 of the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act 2025. The Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 allows for public participation and for informing the public about environmentally significant activities, and Schedule 8 eliminates this for Ontario Place.
Part 2 of the Environmental Bill of Rights is a crucial part of holding our Ontario government to account on it's obligation to protect the environment for all citizens of our province. It is also crucial for our democracy to ensure that the public is informed about significant environmental activities.
Citizens of Ontario have a right to be informed about their government's activities. As a citizen of Ontario I demand the right to be fully informed through about environmentally significant activities taking place in my city, Toronto, and my province, Ontario. When citizens fully participate in environmentally significant activities, it can have a positive effect of the environment of our beautiful province.
