I am commenting on the proposed amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023.
I am opposed to Schedule 8 of the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025, exempting every project tied to the Ontario Place redevelopment (and any enterprise or activity that furthers the Ontario Place Redevelopment Project that is not at the Ontario Place site) from Part 11 of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993.
Imagining that "protecting Ontario by unleashing our economy" is more important than the natural environment is short sighted. The Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 was put in place to ensure a balanced investigation. Your actions are unbalanced and favour developers.
Please consider Schedule 8 will have environmental impacts that cannot be reversed.
There should be referendums on these sorts of impactful environmental issues rather than Governments inserting clauses and silencing those who disagree with what is being done.
