I would like to comment on the proposed amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023.

I am strongly opposed to Schedule 8 of the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025--a ridiculous name, by the way--which exempts every project tied to the Ontario Place redevelopment from Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993.

Schedule 8 eliminates public participation, the need to inform the public about environmentally significant activities with regards to Ontario Place, all of which directly goes against Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights Act.

This proposed amendment benefits private sector initiatives, not the public interest, and certainly not the environment. I am calling on the Government of Ontario to remove Schedule 8 of the new Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025.
