I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 5, the so-called *Rebuilding Ontario Act*. Despite its name, this legislation appears to prioritize developer interests over the well-being of Ontarians by stripping away critical environmental protections, reducing government accountability, and fast-tracking projects that could irreversibly harm our natural landscapes, wetlands, and communities.
Bill 5 undermines democratic processes by limiting public consultation and bypassing meaningful environmental assessments. The proposed changes risk accelerating urban sprawl, destroying vital ecosystems, and worsening climate change impacts—all while sidelining the voices of residents, Indigenous communities, and conservation experts. Ontario’s future should be built on sustainable development, not unchecked exploitation.
I urge you to reconsider this harmful legislation and instead focus on policies that balance growth with environmental stewardship, transparency, and meaningful public engagement. Ontario deserves better than a bill that sacrifices our natural heritage and democratic rights for the benefit of a few.
