As a resident of Dresden for over 10 years, I am writing to express my deep concern and opposition to the proposed ERO facility. I love this town and the strong, close-knit community we’ve built here, and I am alarmed by the serious risks this project poses to our environment, health, and quality of life.
First and foremost, the proposed facility is set to be located just 800 feet from our town. That kind of proximity goes against all sound environmental and public health science. Industrial operations of this nature bring increased risks of air and water pollution, and when such pollutants are released this close to homes, schools, and businesses, they can have a direct and damaging impact on residents’ health—especially children, the elderly, and those with preexisting conditions.
Additionally, this facility would bring significant increases in traffic, including heavy trucks, which will add wear and tear to our roads and increase the risk of accidents. More vehicles and machinery will also mean more noise pollution, disrupting the peaceful character of our community. The cumulative impact of these factors—air and water contamination, noise, traffic congestion—will not only degrade our environment but also our property values and overall well-being.
As someone who has chosen to live and raise a family in Dresden, I cannot support a development that puts our safety and community integrity at such risk. The location alone—so close to our homes—defies logic, common sense, and scientific best practices for industrial siting. I urge the decision-makers to consider the long-term consequences and prioritize the health and sustainability of Dresden.
