RE: "Through the proposed Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025, we are proposing amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023. The proposed legislation provides an exemption from Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993, which includes requirements for giving public notice and opportunities for comment, for proposals for provincial permits and approvals related to the Ontario Place redevelopment project, or that further the project (i.e., not at the site)."

This exemption proposal makes a mockery of the democratic process and the rule of law in Ontario.

The way in which the abominable Ontario Place "redevelopment project" has been devised and orchestrated so far is the equivalent to handing a carte blanche to a foreign business entity to do whatever the hell it wants for the next 99 (!) years on invaluable waterfront in the heart of downtown Toronto. And cui bono? Certainly not the citizens of Ontario. You are blatantly planning to exempt the project from the laws, regulations, rules and approvals normally required, whether on or off-site—and in this case for a project that practically no Ontario citizen wants or will benefit from, but yet has to financially support through taxation.

The entire spa project should be scrapped. Ontario Place must be restored to function as a beautiful park for people, showcasing the best in natural landscapes and water features found in the province. Ontarians do not need or want or should have to tolerate a crass for-profit, ugly, glass and concrete structure with fake trees and fake beaches and fake wellness controlled by a questionable foreign entity that, according to the New York Times, has allegedly misrepresented its commercial success.

Ontario government leadership, competence and service to the people of Ontario are sadly lacking in this sorry enterprise. Stop it, scrap it and restore the Ontario Place west island to a non-commercial. natural haven for recreation, relaxation and contemplation.
