I strongly oppose the implementation of bill 5 on the basis that it is unethical, societally as a human rights violation, and environmentally.
As a highly concerned citizen, i believe this bill is extremely regressive and harmful, that will speed up the destruction of critical habitat for endangered species, removes basic environmental rights, including rights to be informed and have a say, and fails to respect Indigenous peoples' rights, including those recognized in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
As your constituent, I have two urgent requests for you. Please:
1. SUPPORT the protection of nature, Indigenous rights, and public trust in government decision-making by calling for the withdrawal of Bill 5 in its entirety
2. SEEK AN EXTENSION of the comment periods for all Bill 5 related proposals posted on the Environmental Registry to allow for meaningful public participation to occur.
