I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 5. This proposed legislation would undermine critical environmental protections, remove opportunities for public consultation, and disregard the rights of Indigenous communities to be consulted on development projects affecting their lands.

Allowing unchecked development without public input or environmental assessments threatens the health of our ecosystems, the integrity of our communities, and our collective future. Growth and development should be thoughtful, sustainable, and inclusive—not forced at the expense of clean air, water, and land.

I urge the provincial government to reject Bill 5 and instead strengthen mechanisms for transparency, Indigenous reconciliation, and environmental stewardship. Our province’s natural heritage is not a barrier to progress—it is the foundation of it.
