I strongly oppose these proposed changes under Bill 5. If the company agreed to environmental assessment, they need to live up to that promise! It seems the only scope of that project that has changed is their desire to follow through, and that is not worth sacrificing environmental health in our province. I also find it suspicious that within the proposed changes are linked changes to other environmental laws, put in place to directly protect those environments. We are already suffering from poor environmental health in Ontario that will greatly impact our ability to be resilient to climate change and extreme weather events. I do not support any changes to any of the environmental laws that would lessen our ability to protect what is left.
