As a young person, this legislation feels like a direct attack on my future, as well as the future of Ontario’s wildlife, environment, and relationships with indigenous communities. This bill will dismantle so much of the work our province has done for protecting our environment and creating commitments with Indigenous communities. The bill replaces the Endangered Species Act with a weakened framework that prioritizes development over the protection of at-risk wildlife. This is disgusting. This Bill also ignores the importance of meaningful consultation with affected communities and undermines the integrity of Ontario's environmental safeguards.
I urge you to support “common sense” evidence-based environmental protections and scrap this bill. We can support economic growth without sacrificing our natural heritage and our environmental livelihood. Please call for the immediate withdrawal of this bill.
