I am strongly opposed to Bill 5, which would destroy the Endangered Species Act and gut critical protections for species at risk, while also threatening democracy and ignoring the rights of First Nations. Ontario is home to some of the most biodiverse regions of Canada and our government should prioritize protecting and enhancing natural spaces, which provide key ecosystem services such as flood mitigation and carbon sequestration. Bill 5 would take our province in entirely the wrong direction.
