The proposed bill 5 will harm endangered species and reduce habitat. Ontario is home to many species at risk of extinction and economic development should not be made at the expense of these animals.
We need stronger protection for species at risk of extinction, not less. Significant effort from scientists goes into research to support COWEWIC reports and defining critical habitat, then government agency then spend significant time reviewing it. Both scientists and goverment employees are supoorted hy the federal government. It is economically and mortally irresponsible to have a few politicians have more say than the well educated scientists and policy employees. I do not support this bill.
Also first nations should be consulted. I am against changes this bill makes.
The changes to the environmental assessments for mining are shortsighted and I do not support them. There should not be zones exempt from environmental regulations.
We need strong environmental protections so we can continue to build houses and develop while not harming species at risk or first nations.
I do not support bill 5 in May 2025.
