With the revitalised…

With the revitalised beachfront, I hope the need to protect endangered species is being seriously considered. The dunes and vegetation must be left alone so that the Piping Plovers and all the endangered species that use this land, have a chance to nest and get the chance to be removed from the endangered species list. The vegetation is imperative to their survival. Why do condominiums have to be built along the beachfront just for a few to enjoy? The beachfront should be left open for everyone to enjoy. Collingwood has the right approach, leaving their waterfront as parkland and open to one and all. I have walked Collingwoods waterfront many times and have been able to enjoy the waterfront and the many different species of birds seen on the water. Will people be able to enjoy the Wasaga Beach waterfront, I doubt it very much. The town needs to come to a compromise with more availability to the beach for those that cannot afford one of these condos, although it will mean less taxes for the town to collect. Let’s not make this about revenues for the Town of Wasaga and more about the people.
