Minister Flack,
Please push forward with issuing this MZO, ideally without conditions. This site has become such an eyesore, and - in the face of such a devastating housing crisis - a symbol of government inaction (whether or not this is fair - this is the sentiment). Housing has always been on this site. CN's appeals on the grounds of noise mitigation and "concern" for future tenants is completely ridiculous - people were living here up until 2019 while the rail line was very much operational.
In fact - if you look at Hamilton as a whole, our entire city is built around, and in harmony with, rail lines. There are neighbourhoods and housing abutting tracks from East Stoney Creek all the way out to Dundas.
Tenants should never have been made to move from the site as early as they were - the City has acknowledged that mistake, and has made crucial policy updates to ensure it never happens again. Let's not allow any further delays to getting families, children, seniors, and individuals from making a home and a life back at Jamesville.
Thank you for your consideration.
