I have been rock climbing in Ontario for close to 20 years and would love to see it as an approved recreational activity within provincial parks (especially Devil’s Glen). It is such a close community, who really enjoys spending time outdoors, challenging ourselves physically in a beautiful setting. Our group is mostly environmentally aware, and although we do not deny that climbing and hiking has an impact, it is far less significant than any motorized activities and we try to practice a leave no trace ethic. Having the park’s support would help maintain quality and safety standards for many rock climbers - much or whom are more than happy to volunteer hours to do the work or clean up the area.
