I am writing in support of rock climbing remaining an approved activity in Devil’s Glen Provincial Park. Climbing is a meaningful way for people to connect with the natural environment, and it offers a unique opportunity to experience the park’s landscape in a safe, mindful, and active way.
The climbing community in Ontario has consistently shown a commitment to conservation and responsible recreation. Climbers are often among the first to advocate for trail upkeep, habitat protection, and respectful use of the land. Their involvement strengthens the park’s goals of environmental stewardship while encouraging healthy, outdoor lifestyles.
Recognizing climbing as part of the park’s management plan will ensure that visitors can continue to enjoy diverse, low-impact recreation while helping to build lasting partnerships between Ontario Parks and the climbing community. This approach balances conservation priorities with access, ensuring that Devil’s Glen remains a place people can value and care for well into the future.
Thank you for taking this perspective into account as the plan moves forward.
