Part of Ontario Parks mission statements says "To protect provincially significant elements of Ontario’s natural and cultural landscape and maintain biodiversity while offering opportunities for inspiration, education, health, and recreational enjoyment...." Rock climbing can easily inspire, provide opportunity for education, gives health benefits as a source of exercise and is a source of recreational enjoyment. As such, it nicely aligns with the mission of Ontario Parks. By allowing rock climbing and working with organizations such as the Ontario Alliance of Climbers and the Alpine Club of Canada, rock climbing can be sustainably managed for generations to come.
