This is not conservation — it’s a betrayal of Ontario’s natural heritage and public trust.
This government has gutted the Endangered Species Act and replaced it with a hollow framework that prioritizes development over the survival of species already hanging by a thread.
This guidance is a slap in the face to every Ontarian who values biodiversity, science, and environmental responsibility. It ignores the warnings of conservation experts, silences Indigenous voices, and steamrolls over decades of hard-won protections. The fact that this proposal is being pushed forward with minimal consultation is disgraceful.
Ontario’s ecosystems are not bargaining chips for short-term economic gain. We are in a biodiversity crisis, and this guidance accelerates the destruction. It’s reckless, shortsighted, and morally indefensible.
The Ford government must:
- Scrap this guidance and start over with real conservation goals.
- Reinstate the robust protections of the Endangered Species Act, 2007.
- Conduct transparent, inclusive consultations with Indigenous communities, scientists, and the public.
This is not about conservation. It’s about deregulation and destruction. Although there is no transparency with this government, we see through these proposals, and Ontarian's will not be silent.
