If the Minister is allowed to override the Provincial Planning Statement, it would reduce the consistency across jurisdictions and undercut local municipalities.
It is imperative that municipalities retain local planning authority. The municipalities are in the foremost position to understand and foster best practices at the local level.
It is necessary to prevent any Minister from overriding previously approved policies.
There is a reason why these laws are in place. Please keep them there.
