The County of Brant appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback on the Province’s consultation on simplifying and standardizing Official Plans. We share the Province’s objectives of accelerating housing delivery, improving predictability in the planning process, and supporting strong, complete communities.

At the same time, our comments highlight some cautions to ensure these changes are implemented in a way that maintains local flexibility, protects livability, and aligns with broader provincial policy objectives. Key considerations include the need for clarity in new directions, safeguards for nuances in privately or partially serviced areas, and supporting opportunities for municipalities to modernize planning tools without losing site-specific responsiveness.
