Ontario can simplify and standardize official plans by fixing structure rather than just shortening documents. The key is to separate land use (what can happen) from built form (how much can be built). Lire davantage

The Province needs to streamline planning documents. The Niagara Escarpment Plan is a plan with policies and development standards. There is no zoning. Development permits need to meet the vision of the Plan. There is no need for both an Official Plan and Zoning By-Law. Both should be combined. Lire davantage

Hello. My family owns a 200-acre property in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio (in Simcoe County). The Township has zoned all of our property as 'Agricultural', despite the fact that only 50 acres of it has ever been farmed. Lire davantage

This ERO limits the ability of municipalities to make local planning decisions that prioritize sustainability and climate action, including their ability to govern over and implement green development standards. Lire davantage

I believe that municipalities should have the autonomy to make their own decisions regarding items within their jurisdiction. I do not appreciate authoritarian actions that trample the rights of other jurisdictions and would like to Province to concentrate on their own items.

These changes will negatively impact me, my community, and the environment. I am firmly against this Bill. Municipalities should retain decision making powers on what is best for their community.

It would make sense if policy as per the suggested topics/chapters is created as Provincial policy as part of the Provincial Planning Statement. That would leave municipal official plans as a set of map schedules only that calibrate land use designations to local geography. Lire davantage

I strongly urge you to reconsider this proposal. The evidence has suggested over decades that when it comes to local development or acting in times of crisis, municipalities are at the forefront and best prepared to act in a tailored manner. Cities know what their residents need. Lire davantage

Kudos for simplifying the building process BUT - do NOT touch any plans already in place by the City of Toronto to improve our climate! Permeable pavements. Bicycles replacing cars whenever practical. Managing stormwater. Lire davantage

I am opposed to a province wide standard on development which would prevent municipalities from enacting standards or regulations particular to their own needs and citizen aspirations. Lire davantage

I would like to speak to the standardization of Official plans, as well as the limiting of development standards. As a former planning student at York, I understand and appreciate the desire to simplify and standardize official plans. Lire davantage

Local context matters. Responsible and sustainable development and growth must happen at the Municipal level, where relevant local considerations such as natural heritage, resource management, and long-term growth objectives are reflected and implemented through Municipal Official Plans.
