This is my first time commenting through EBR, and I find the site very slow, cumbersome and user unfriendly. I know these are large files, but they should not be this difficult to load or download. I tried to download the files so I could explore them in better detail, but it kept crashing.
I looked at the map, and am quite surprised that it does not include many existing and proposed/pending rails to trails linkages (e.g. K&P, Cataraqui etc). I assume all of the various trail groups, like the Lanark County Municipal Trail Corporation have been contacted, and will provide more input, but they should have been contacted at the start, and their existing infrastructure should in some way be recognized and incorporated. I'm also surprised at the intent to build off road trails along site major highways, like #7. Seem way to expensive ever to become reality.
I know this is about connecting local areas, but as an experienced cycle tourer, who was cycling, planning and leading tours in many parts of Canada already back in the 1980's, using the local networks as much as possible is what makes for the most interesting, safe and varied trips. I know here in Lanark County, many townships are putting wide paved shoulders on many gorgeous county roads, and they have lots of established mid length cycling routes already in place.
All in all, there may have been a lot of work that went into this project to date, but it doesn't seem like it. It feels very premature, and not appropriate for a 30 day review.
