I consider the concept of a province-wide walking & cycling trail, with interconnections to Quebec and Manitoba, an excellent idea for means of health, exposure to the great outdoors, enabler for family excursions or expeditions, motivation for exercise and well-worthwhile community service to create and maintain trails. The G2G Trail is an excellent initiative, with the initial groundwork nearing completion, linking several major urban centres with rural areas and one of the Great Lakes. A bonus is that local communities can serve such tourists by measn of feeding & watering them, and accomodation : an all-round benefit and keeping money circulating within the province. My experience with Sustrans in my native Scotland, a similar initiative started in the mid-1970s, has shown it to exceed the above expectations, with integrated loops and spurs, and interconnection with similar trails in England at the border, and with Ireland via seaferry or air. The medical profession has widely endorsed the beneficial exercise afforded by participation in the network, and statistics have shown a strong trend of increased health & wellbeing for those taking up the opportunity to use the trails, which if successful in Ontario will reap the same benefits. I hope the above information is of use.
