Regarding the proposed Ontario Cycling Network: - I fully support this long over due undertaking - It will have a number of benefits for cycling in Ontario including safer and better routes for cyclists and the opportunity to increase tourism

Specific comments about the proposed routes are: - In Bruce County, rather than use Hwy 6 for the entire distance between Wiarton and Tobermory, I recommend using County Rd (CR) 9 where it connects with Hwy 6 north of Wiarton, then through Lion's Head on CR 29 and using Isthmus Bay Rd, Forty Hills Rd and Caudle Side Rd to return to Hwy 6. All roads are paved, have far less traffic (even allowing for paved shoulder on #6) and are much more scenic. - In the Town of Oakville, the proposed route for the Oakville to Halton Hills uses Trafalgar Rd to Cornwall Rd. That route is definitely not suitable as it is one of the busiest for traffic in Oakville, particularly during week days as GO train traffic uses both streets. It is one of the worst areas for cyclists trying to travel from north of the QEW to the south with the combined barriers of the QEW and the railway tracks. Also the inital section of Trafalgar is very narrow. Local cyclists know to avoid that route. Subject to the construction of some type of road and/or cycling infrastructure to facilitate crossing of the railway tracks and the QEW, any route through this area will be a challenge from the perspective of safety. At the very least, Allan St or Reynolds between Lakeshore and Cornwall Rd are suggested in place of Trafalgar. Further MTO and the Town of Oakville and the Region of Halton should develop a safe cycling solution that includes the appropriate infrastructure that will both improve both local and the province wide network cycling routes
