I am a waterfront resident on Lake Scugog living in my daughter’s home. This is already an extremely shallow lake and for this reason, full of weeds. I fear removing what little water is present under the ice in winter would seriously harm many forms of wildlife that depend on surviving fish stocks, not the least of which are Osprey, Eagles, and King Fishers all of which I have watched fishing first hand. I have also heard larger animals out there fishing at night.

Taking water from this lake is a really bad idea just because it’s one of the closest to heavily populated areas. Surely there are larger deeper lakes in Ontario!
