Thank you for the opportunity to provide comment on the proposed changes.
I have two comments for consideration:
1. How do the proposed changes address / affect the need for Heritage Impact Assessments (HIAs). HIAs can be completed by a suite of complementary disciplines, depending on the individual site and / or project context. How are HIAs addressed in relation to the archaeological record in these proposed changes?
2. How do the proposed changes address / affect the protection of cultural landscapes, which may contain portions of archaeological sites or archaeological sites in their entirety.
3. In recognition of the growing understanding of the significance of cultural landscapes, and a shift away from a "monuments (or sites) based-approach" to archaeological conservation to a more holistic "landscape-scale" approach to archaeological conservation of sites within their broader landscape context, how do the proposed changes address this growing shift towards landscape-scale conservation?
