Education of drivers is important for bike safety initiatives to work. For example, if Ontario passes a law increasing space to pass cyclists, there should also be an educational (advertising) campaign accompanying it, as has been done in other jurisdictions, like Arizona. Also, if provinces/Cities paint bike echelons on the pavement, drivers and cyclists need to know what they mean.
Thousands of riders from dozens of recreational cycling groups in Toronto ride out of the city on summer Saturdays. Many of them use the same roads and it would be nice if they had bike lanes. These registered bike clubs and the OCA should be consulted regarding the appropriate routes, so that white elephants are not created.
