I oppose the proposed repeal. Between now and 2021, a variety of circumstances could delay the development of federal guidelines, and the control of toxic substances is sufficiently crucial for the environment and health of Ontarians that we cannot risk this becoming an unregulated wild west for months or years. To plan the repeal now suggests a cavalier attitude of the worst type coming from a government more concerned with optics and satisfying industry donors than the well-being of its constituents.
