Increasing housing availability and streamlining process development are worthy goals. However the powers currently proposed for the Local Appeal Tribunal look like returning to the bad old days of the Municipal Development Board, where the wishes of developers reigned supreme and the planning and concerns of duly elected ;municipal councils were overturned more often than not. I strongly feel that this is a retrograde step.
