With risk of CWD highest from farmed animals, suggest stricter controls with respect to alternative livestock (ie. licensing/reporting requirements). Annual health testing of captive herds should be a requirement.
Updates to regulations under the FWCA to include strict timelines concerning recovery of escaped cervids - assume high risk for all escape situations and endeavour to remove animals from landscape as soon as possible.
MNRF and OMAFRA to work in partnership with each other, along with Municipalities to resolve issues stemming from escapes.
