Protect Employment Land for Employment Uses in the City of Toronto!!!
Employment land must not be converted for residential purposes. Employment land is a finite resource that once removed from employment use for residential purposes can never be regained. Treat Employment Land for what it is - a community asset providing economic benefit for current and future generations of City of Toronto residents. Thousands of residential units are already approved or planned in Mixed Use Areas and Centres in the City of Toronto where the Official Plan and the Provincial Policy Statement envisions and supports the use. There is no need to convert any employment land in the City of Toronto for residential purposes to accommodate Toronto's envisioned population. All Employment Land is needed now with historic low vacancy rates and new businesses emerging requiring employment land to run their operations. Converting Employment Land for residential purposes is robbing current, and all future residents of the City of Toronto, of employment opportunities which are desperately needed for a complete community. The time is now to stop the "short term gain for long term pain" reality of converting Employment Land for residential purposes. Take the lead, show fortitude and fight to preserve one of the greatest resources we have in the City of Toronto!
