I am very concerned about the language proposed in the Provincial Policy Statement Review. Using words such as "may" and ''should" do not clearly necessitate that policies will be followed. They merely become suggestions.
I am saddened visiting communities where development has been permitted without allowing for connected corridors of natural spaces. It is my opinion that our government has a responsibility to protect natural spaces and not allow for the degradation of wetlands and forests. They are far too valuable for our health and survival. We cannot replace the functions that they provide.
I do not wish to see reduced biodiversity or the extinction of species in Ontario as a result of weak environmental protection policies with wishy washy vague language.
I urge the province to return to this document to further examine it and strengthen environmental protections rather than weaken them.
