While the desire to simplify and streamline processes for Ontario businesses is well motivated attempting to achieve that through Omnibus Bill 132 is not the correct way to manage this responsibly. This Omnibus Bill sneaks in provisions that undermine democracy and relax further already too permissive regulations favouring corporate interests over the interests of people and ecosystems. One example is the provision’s roll back of neonicotinoid restrictions. Our capacity to recall products that had no business receiving PMRA approvals (as is the case with the neonicotinoid class) will be be curbed by this over reaching amendment. This is an abdication of responsibilities assigned to Ontario ... and fails Ontario residents current and future. Withdraw this bill and consider the feedback from ecological farm groups and civil society organizations.
