The MNRF have a specific division for forestry, it is in their name. How can anyone expect that a logging company, or those using the forest will police themselves if they are breaking the law. Someone that speeds on a highway sure wouldn't tell the OPP that they deserve a ticket. The MNRF shouldn't be less involved in decisions. If that is the case, then take the 'F' out of their name and fire a bunch of people. Or, work with the logging companies, tourism, outfitters, the pubic and so on. There are ways that the MNRF can be involved without having a bad name behind it. Everyone should have input on these decisions, but when roads are created to harvest some trees, those roads should be decommissioned so the forest is back to its untouched state. Make all river crossing using removable bridges. A big concern of locals is seeing all the trees that are cut and piled on the ground, nevered to be used, just so the forest company can get a few mature trees. Those cut trees should be donated to families in need or sold for firewood at the expense of the logging company to remove them from the bush.
