In the past, our neighbourhood has experienced many difficulties in fighting for our rights as citizens to preserve the land that we worked hard for. We stood up as a community and fought Ruth Grier the Ministry of the Environment when she decided to place a dump literally in our backyard. Not only was this dump to be placed in the Green Belt of Caledon, but the prized Blue Herons would have lost their nesting home. Recently, we had a study done to build an overpass through farmers’ fields and now the Northwest GTA Transmission Corridor. You have asked the citizens how we feel about this, and we have given you an honest opinion. No thank you. Personally, I would like to preserve this land so that not only my children, but also my grandchildren could see the beauty that Caledon has to offer. Overpasses and Transmission Corridors have no place on Dixie Road. The once beautiful and peaceful nature walks we were able to take in the past are just memories. Our roads have become traffic for huge transport trucks and cars coming from all areas. Building these transmissions will provide electrical needs for the future; however, what impact will these transmissions pose to our health or what about the value of our homes?
To my surprise, I have spoken to several residents in my area and they were not aware of this survey, as they have not received any notification regarding this study. It would a great idea that all residents receive notification of this study.
