Hello, while the Ministry may maintain water is being taken sustainably, it's being taken by private companies at negligible benefit to the people of Ontario. Water bottling is also responsible for a significant volume of our waste. The Province should increase water taking fees for bottling companies and also introduce more stringent requirements for water bottling companies who use plastic bottles.

Plastic bottles are reaching landfills or burdening municipal recycling resources and adding additional costs to taxpayers. Canada is the largest generator of waste on the planet! Reduction in plastic bottles could be achieved by adding waste taxes for water bottling companies who use plastic.

The water taking fee also needs to increase in order to provide noticeable benefit to the taxpayer and provide a fair revenue. Water taking fees are currently only $500/million litres. That's like $0.000125/bottle. That's absurdly low.
