Please protect our water. Stop having it bottled and sold. Close down water bottling. Provide clean water for all Canadian residents. Our water is precious. Protect it.

Hello. I do not support increasing or allowing new companies to take water for bottling. Plastic water bottles are terrible for the environment and are not recycled at a level which does not impact the environment. Instead, these bottles end up in our oceans choking sea life. Lire davantage

Hello, while the Ministry may maintain water is being taken sustainably, it's being taken by private companies at negligible benefit to the people of Ontario. Water bottling is also responsible for a significant volume of our waste. Lire davantage

I have no problem allowing water takings in jurisdictions where regular tests are conducted to ensure groundwater levels remain static. And I understand recent increases to the charges bottling companies pay for the priviledge. But come on, they should pay A LOT more. Lire davantage

The exemption for "small businesses" from some of these proposed regulations should be removed. "Small business" is a vague idea and the category could be mis-used by large companies. Lire davantage

Water is a finite resource. Climate change will only accentuate this. All businesses that consume large amounts of water should have regulatory limits on the amount of water they can take - not just bottling companies. Lire davantage

Municipalities should NOT have more authority in water taking decisions. Water systems extend beyond their boundaries and cannot be treated as closed systems. I do Not support this legislation. I think it would be detrimental to the quality and quantity of our surface and ground water. Lire davantage

In Ontario, water bottling companies are charged $500 for every MILLION litres of ground water taken ($0.0005/litre). In Toronto, I pay 140 times more ($0.0700842/litre)... Lire davantage

The proposed regulatory changes should reflect that the applicant SHALL require, as a precondition, the support of the host community for a Permit to Take Water, or an increased amount, or a RENEWAL of the permit, whose decision shall be determinative. Lire davantage

It is incredibly disappointing that our governments continue to allow this in 2020. We have extremely well inspected water and there is no reason to drink bottled. Aside from the tremendous impact of wasted water bottles, we are unnecessarily taking from our natural resources to feed corporations. Lire davantage

Bottled water should be banned. The plastic is horrible for the environment and companies that profit from this practice should be stopped. I do not support bottled water.

While I appreciate the findings of the review, bottled water as an industry has no place in Ontario. Water privatization, especially for the production of single-use water consumption products, is not consistent with any legitimate definition of sustainability. Lire davantage

Taking common good like water and selling it for profit is just plain WRONG. The water belongs to all people and natural habitat in the area (which is not being represented at all). Lire davantage

While all of these sound great, could you also require these companies to switch back to glass or to use bioplastics in replacement of plastic? Why take our resources, if they are just going to pollute us, and add strain to our other industries? Please, take this into serious consideration. Lire davantage
