The argument that making aggregate resources available close to market is critical to the success of the Growth Plan, and that the change will not impact the Greenbelt, is vacuous.

Extraction of aggregates already occurs throughout most of the Greater Golden Horseshoe,including the Natural Heritage System. The purpose of the NHS is to protect biodiversity. Prohibiting mining of aggregate within the habitats of our most vulnerable plants and animals is the bare minimum that should be required to protect priceless resources against a comparatively minor economic advantage.
