To whom it may concern:
I am pleased that the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and parks is looking at water quantity in Ontario and has retained the water expert BluMetric Environmental Inc., to study water quantity in key areas of Ontario, as stated in the proposal paper "Updating Ontario's Water Quantity Management Framework".
As you know, the Quinte area is one of the study areas that is susceptible to water quantity stress. The BluMetric Environmental study indicates that groundwater ‘may unsustainable under future conditions’ and in times of drought in the Quinte study area. The report also indicates that surface water is not sustainable in some parts of this study area under current conditions, future conditions and extreme drought conditions. Your report notes concerns and data gaps for Tyendinaga Township. Residents in Tyendinaga Township have no access to municipal/alternate water supplies. The Quinte area has had low water alerts in each of the last five years ( 2016 extending until January 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020).
I hereby request a moratorium on ALL permits to take water for Tyendinaga Township.
